Happy Birthday!
The Umbrella of Friendship
Tomorrow is my youngest daughter's birthday. She'll be 7. Our friends invited us over to spend the day swimming and grilling out tomorrow so my oldest daughter and I thought we should celebrate today. But hey, we started the celebrations on Monday night. My youngest opened her gifts(because she could NOT wait), we baked a small cake, hung streamer and just a good time. We had already decided that a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's was in order today. So this morning, we head off to the madhouse. Fortunately, we went early and didn't have to face that madhouse. There's things I don't like about Chuck E. Cheese's. Like when there's 500 kids packed in there, grabbing your kid's tokens and tickets or pushing and shoving their way to a game. Or that child that seems to be with no one and keeps begging for me to buy them tokens or a drink or bag of cotton candy. That all breaks my heart because I'd like to believe that someone cares enough to teach their child(ren) manners and that pushing and shoving is not polite. And I'd especially like to believe that someone is there watching that child that appears to be alone. But on to the positive and what I love about Chuck E Cheese's. The way my kids' faces light up when we even talk about going there. The excitement I see in them when we get there. The pure joy of playing a game and winning some tickets. And the feeling they seem to have when they get many tickets. They feel like winners when they walk away from that place. And let me just admit something: I LOVE CHUCK E. CHEESE'S myself. Does that make me a kid at heart? I hope so. I love getting excited over something so silly or simple. I love watching movies with my kids or going to Toys 'R Us with my kids or watching them pick out a toy somewhere. I wonder if my likes and dislikes will change as my kids grow up and change their likes and dislikes? I guess overall though I know when to be a mom and a grown up but on those days where I can feel like a kid(maybe not act like one), it sure brings a smile to my face!
Happy birthday baby! I love you always.
